The Recent Announcement by Whatsapp is quite Shocking.
Earlier this week, Facebook-owned Whatsapp said that it will know share user data across facebook and the companies it owns. This includes Facebook Inc, Facebook Payments, Whatsapp Inc, etc.
This is the only reason that many people are switching from whatsapp to Signal or Telegram.
Whatsapp's new terms and policy will take its effect on February 8, 2021. If user wants to continue with whatsapp has to accept these new terms and policies.

What is Signal?
Signal was founded by Brian Acton and Moxie Marlinspike on 10 January, 2018. Acton was also one of the founders of whatsapp which was sold to Facebook in 2014.
Signal gives you end-to-end encrypted messages, voice and video calls.
In December 2020, Signal launched group calls in signal with its latest versions and touted as free, private and end-to-end encrypted "like everything else on signal".
Signal in just a few days, has become the top downloaded app on both Google Play store as well as Apple App store. On iOS Signal weighs 133.5 MB while on Android it weighs 96.7 MB.
Signal has announced that it has a record level of downloads for the app around the world.

In conclusion, Whatsapp's new privacy policy is an hindrance for using whatsapp because it's harmful. It can leak our private data to Facebook and other related companies.
In terms of other alternatives like telegram, it's not end-to-end encrypted. There is a chance of getting an unknown messages again and again. It's not good for informative data.
Signal is a bit more secure if you look at its end-to-end encryption for all chats and group chats. But there is a chance of missing some of the most amazing features of whatsapp on Signal.
